Thanksgiving Made Easy!
All the questions you have about roasting your turkey in one easy cheat sheet!
How long does a turkey need to defrost?
Depending on the size and method using, there are different lengths of times needed to defrost your turkey. Grill Masters Club recommends thawing your turkey in your refrigerator if you have the time. This method is the most reliable for ensuring that your turkey is completely thawed.
How long does a turkey need to be cooked?
Again, this depends on the size of your turkey and if you have filled the cavity with stuffing or not. The recommended cook time is 13 minutes per poung unstuffed, and 15 minutes per pound if your bird is stuffed. We also suggest that you pre-heat your oven to 450°F and then lower this to 350°F once you put your turkey in. This helps to give you a crispy skin, while still ensuring your turkey is moist inside!
When is my turkey done?
Your turkey is completely cooked when the thermometer reads 165°F when probing the breast. Keep in mind that your turkey will continue to cook once it has been removed from the oven. It is highly recommended to let your turkey rest for at least 15 minutes before carving to give the juices a chance to redistrubute to the bird!
