Preheat Tips
Dial In the Heat
For medium-heat cooks like chicken and pork, place the grate on your flat top and set the burner to high or medium-high depending on your griddle.
- For steaks and burgers, preheat the flat top on high first
- Then place the Sear’NSizzle® GrillGrate on the hot surface
- Use the hottest, flattest part of your griddle for best results
- Great for creating independent heat zones
Seasoning
Season Before You Sear
Once the GrillGrate comes up to temperature, season the rails before cooking.
- Rub half an onion across the hot rails
- Or lightly apply high-heat oil with a paper towel
- Use canola oil, grapeseed oil, or duck fat spray
- Avoid extra virgin olive oil due to its low smoke point
Cleaning
Simple After-Cook Care
Unlike traditional grill grates, a simple clean after each use helps keep performance strong.
- Let the grate cool before cleaning
- Soak in hot soapy water to remove debris and oil
